The Founder
Peter Moore
Peter Moore is the managing director of Peter Moore & Co Ltd. He attained his BA in Agricultural Science in 1978 from UCD and went on to pursue studies in accountancy with ACCA certificate in 1995. He became a member of AIA Association of International Accountants in 2002 and became a fellow in 2008. Peter played football with Rhode, Croghan and UCD gaining medals in Senior, Intermediate, Junior, and Leinster U21 levels.
He spent time working as a Dairy Manager of over 250 cows. He took up Horse Riding and won the 2001 RDS. Peter is the organiser of Croghan Hill Challenge which is responsible for raising funds for a variety of charities including Crumlin Children’s Hospital. He believes in building a business with loyal and happy staff, continuous learning, attention to detail, delegation, accountability and resourcefulness.
The Business
Peter Moore & Co Ltd is an agricultural accountancy practice in Mullingar. It started out as a small partnership in 1980 on Pearce street and moved to its current premises on Patrick street in 1982. The new location was ideally located next to Mullingar Livestock Agency Mart which is now as we know ‘Marketpoint’. With the move from farming rates to the need for accounting in the early 1980s there was a growth in demand for more agricultural accounting and consulting which is where it all began.
Peter Moore & Co Ltd has grown over the years with a client base of over 600 and covering most counties in Ireland from Monaghan to Kerry and from Leitrim to Dublin. This year we will be celebrating 42 years in business. We now have over 15 third generation clients. We have an excellent team of employees most of whom started with the firm, others joining us in the early years and the next generation joining us in recent years. Our staff and experience is what makes us.
